5 Quick Ideas for Self-Care
Morning Care Activities
Spend time actually drinking your coffee.
I don’t know about you, but the FIRST thing that I do in the morning is go downstairs and drink a cup of coffee.
Up until now, I was using a Keurig single-serve coffee maker. By the time my coffee was finished brewing, my kids were already waking up.
That’s why I got this new programmable coffee maker, so that my coffee is ready and waiting for me as soon as I get downstairs.
As a mother, every second counts!
I also picked up this gorgeous oversized coffee mug set, because I’ve only had mismatched ones I’ve collected over the years.
Uniformity and organization make my heart happy!
Not a coffee drinker? Try starting a morning skincare routine instead.
Intentionally wake up early, before anyone else rises.
I cannot tell you how life-changing this is!
It may seem crazy to get up before you have to, but starting your day with time to think alone and plan out your day will yield a great sense of accomplishment.
Start by taking a shower to fully wake yourself up.
Is your bathroom a mess or do you have it decorated how you’d like?
Creating small moments of happiness (in between the chaos) will translate over to the rest of your day.
I recently came across the new Gap Home bathroom line at Walmart and these striped, organic cotton towels are just so cute.
Evening Ideas for Self-Care
Free your mind by reading a book or taking a bubble bath.
Experts recommend winding down your use of social media two hours before bedtime, but at a minimum, at least 30 minutes.
If you’re struggling to fall asleep, screen time before bed may be the culprit.
Use that time to free your mind – read a book or take a bubble bath before you get into bed.
Make sure you are not only getting an adequate amount of sleep, but focus on the quality of your sleep.
Ask yourself – are you getting the recommended amount of sleep per night? Healthy adults need between 7-9 hours of sleep per night.
Do you sleep through the night or do you toss and turn throughout the night?
If that’s the case, you should assess your current mattress and pillows. When was the last time you replaced them?
Having both a supportive mattress and pillow is key to great sleep.
Anytime Self-Care That’s Totally Free
Carve out time to get outdoors.
If you love to exercise, try doing it outside! Vitamin D is so important for our mental health.
I believe we can always find time to prioritize exercise, but if your schedule truly is jammed pack for the day, give yourself a few minutes to enjoy a meal outside at work or at home.
Your mind and body will thank you!
